Can anyone tell me which decals are the best on the market for a H2? Also do the get placed on the tank prior to clear coat? I have a set from RB that are thinner then the ones I bought from Z1 parts. My painter said he likes the Z! decals but he believes they are to thick and the material wont adhear to the clear coat. Thanks! |

Howdy, Did they clear coat before applying or after? Also how was it applied when stock? |

I believe it's paint then decals then clear coat. Me myself I am going to have Brian H do it for me as I would hate to mess up such nice decals.

It's best to put a coat of clear over the paint and let it sit for a week or two. Then color sand, clean and apply the decals. I then put several coats of clear on and let it set for another week. Color sand, buff, polish, done. Z1 sells 2 different types of decals, waterborne and vinyl. Waterborne decals can be difficult to apply and don't like to shape around sharp corners. Vinyl decals are much thicker and easier to apply, at least for me. I have had good results with both RB's decals and Z1's. |

With the thicker Z1 decals did you clear coat them as well? My painter said it seemed to him that the clear coat might not bond as well on the decal. He said he really liked Z1 how it lines up but liked RB's for how thin the decals are. I ordered one more set from RB today just in case. |

You probably ought to get a better painter then  It's VERY difficult to tell the difference if good decals are used and the services of a quality painter . . . . If the vinyl decals looked that bad I reckon I would have been out of business 20 years ago  |
