I am looking to replace the handlebar switches as part of my KH500 resto, I saw these at Diablo and wondered if any one knows the difference between them and the ones I need, if it is a matter of changing connectors or wires around I can do that as they look identical to my originals,

I can't say for sure what Diablo is offering. There have been issues with aftermarket controls not being correct for the application specified.
The kill switch for points is NC where it is NO for CDI.
Switches may be for Euro applications where wiring is different from US.
KH RH controls physically differ from earlier models.
Just be totally aware of what you are ordering.

Thanks for the info, looking at wiring diagrams it appears that I could use a bosch type relay to ground the cdi unit with a KH250 (point model) type switch. it would energize the relay when in the run position holding the contacts open and grounding them when de-energized. It may be a challenge to hide the relay in a somewhat crowded headlamp bucket. I will look into other differences and possible work arounds.

I would also like to thank you for the countless hours you must spend on the resource pages, I have been visiting daily during this resto and have found it to be very helpful.

For CDI using the points kill sw, you could attach ground to the switch where it is usually 12v for points.
It would mean that the switch would work backward.... the Run position would be Off, etc.
Haven't looked at diagrams... it may be that way anyhow with the CDI wiring loom.

Johnatkins - would it be possible to restore your switches? Mine were in terrible shape and I got them looking brand new with some effort. If all the parts are in there you should be able to revive them.

Wasnt there someone offering that service?
I remember telling the young lady I used to work with, who finished mine after I painted them black, there may be a market for this....
