Having a difficult time finding a nice 72 H2 speedo without breaking the bank. The H2 speedo has the 90 degree gearing piece (at least that how I explain it) on the bottom. Can I run an H1 speedo that has a straight shot? No gearing piece? Anyone else have any ideas?? thanks.

Don Fulsang (donfulsang) here on the board restores them. You should probably talk to him about your options. From the reviews, he does excellent work at a reasonable price, and you get a brand new looking gauge when it's done.

You probably could. But you may have a problem routing the cable properly. The H1 had a smaller headlight so the cable would easily clear with the straight speedo.

Looks like on the early H1, the trip reset comes straight out the bottom also. Is the trip knob in the same place and would clear the H2 bracket notch out??
