What do the plugs look like? Are they wet?

the plugs are not as wet as i would expect but they do smell of gas,
i have a half a gallon of preixed gas(32:1) in as the 2-stroke lines are empty ,i was going to get it running then hold the pump lever to max to push the oil through then put only gas in but it needs to run first.
i can try fresh plugs/gas if you think that might help .
i tried spraying some engine start fluid (no change)
cheers mark

Personally, I think premix for startup is more of a problem than it is worth.
However, that shouldn't keep it from firing.
I would have expected the plugs to be wet. Since they aren't it makes me wonder if the choke is set up right or being applied properly. The choke (enrichener) will only work if the throttle is closed.
Check the setup on the choke.

Applying choke on more than 3-4 kicks can flood the cyls. If so, kicking WOT will clear it... but if that is what is happening the plugs will be wet.

Again, spraying some starter fluid in carb intakes may get it fired up.

Mark, not sure if you recall or not but I had the exact same issue a while back trying to get mine to fire for the first time-kicked until I was blue in the face. Turned out to be the timing- didn't align the rotor w/ TDC during assymbly. I know you have a later model w/ points....but starter fluid + spark = fire. ....unless its not firing at the right time when everything is compressed. I would think even a weak spark would still ignite enough to hear a little putter if all was in order. Just my thoughts.

Air leaks? You could be drawing air around the carb maybe the manifold is not tight or a bad gasket causing too much air and little gas. Try to richen the fuel mixture by covering the carbs intake with your hands (you may need three hands :eh: ) to see if you get better results, if so then you pin pointed the issue. Works every time on a cold start of my Snapper. I got two hands if you need them

Fit fresh plugs, a whiff of easy start, if it doesn't go then you have an issue elsewhere.

I read this whole thread and maybe I missed it. Did you check the spark by having it jump at least a 1/4 inch gap? They may show spark with a plug but not be sparking under compression. The other thing that struck me was the rebuilt crank coming with the rotor installed. This is not common practice to install the rotor during a rebuild. Did you have the crank rebuilt or did you buy it as being "rebuilt"? If it has rubber seals, maybe a leakdown test is in order. :?:

The bike looks great Mark. Keep at it. If you recall I had a no-start issue with mine but eventually got it going.
Good luck
Jim
