Evaporust is safe with rubber and other components - the cool thing about it is I think it is essentially water based(!), and it seems to work best when parts are immersed in it for longer periods. I do not work for Evaporust, just a happy customer!

Just checked on some parts treated with evaporust. Did a tank and some nuts and bolts, put in a bolt that was nearly rusted beyond recognition, and when I got it out I couldnt believe it. The bolt looked nearly new with some very light pitting on it. I wouldnt waste my time using an abrasive rust is gone, bolt looks clean ready to use. WOW. Tank looks good inside, shiny only a few light pitting marks but no rust. If you have not used this stuff you've got to try it. It will save you lots of time and maybe some parts that you would otherwise throw away.
