My 1972 H2 is a very early one....

There is only one tube that runs across the frame in the front.

Should there be another single bolt that runs across the frame (not within a tube) ?

Should there be 2 bolts that only hold the motor mount triangular plate to the frame on each side instead?

2 Smaller bolts to hold the triangular plate on the earlier frames - They had a problem with fractured brackets, so they went to the 2 tubular mounts.

Short answer, yes - I think I would weld a tube in there, like the later frames!

Thanks Rod for the info.

The previous owner installed a single bolt through the frame and left it unsupported... it didn't make sense that it was installed like that..

+1 but if the bike is still or will be rebuild as original, better to let it with the single tube, that is what I will do on my H2F 002**

Is it possible that Kawasaki produced some early H2s with the long bolt, but no tube? That's the way mine has been since I bought it in '78, and I doubt that the 1st owner removed two short bolts and put in one long one.

Tubes on both my frames, and I've ripped out one of them in the past, ob-longed the plates and had to fill and re-drilled, broke the rear ones too. Usually due to motor not shimmed right, gets loose, I pound the heck out of this bike. Always been able to fix and I'm a little more careful about making sure everything is tight now although I still loose bolts and such.
