Post subject:  H2B Rear Shock ID Question

What are the correct rear shocks for an H2B? Any ID numbers stamped anywhere? Are the originals good enough rider shocks for general riding enjoyment? Are there important differences among various shocks available for H2B? What are the shocks pictured below for?

Thanks, Rusty34

The H2B and C have the chrome cover at the top and also the red reflectors.Early H2s just had the spring and looked a whole lot better. They do make a repro shock that looks close and you would have a brand new shock instead of a wore out original one. Yours look correct but they did use those type shocks on the later H1s,S2A , and S3s.

The one's in the first pick look like 250 shocks. The shocks in your second pic look like the correct type (even spring spaces not bunched together at the bottom).
Check length from middle of the top shock attachment to bottom one (13.25 in if I remember correctly)

I think I agree the earlier shocks do look a little better than the H2B/C versions with shields and reflectors. I'm looking at getting rear shocks, just don't know what to get yet. I prefer staying with the original equipment most of the time but may have to give the nod to something else in this area. Reason for asking is, if I see something for sale at a show/flea market or on the Internet is it possible to identify them? Are the center to center lengths different between S series, H1 and H2?

Thanx, Rusty34

Here's a pair from Mid Atlantic on ebay. He's a good guy to deal with on triple parts.I bought a set a few years ago and while not an exact copy, they do look pretty close.
