Silly question: what did it look like when you got it? Or was the paint already gone? And isn't that the bike with the abnormal numbers? Sold as a '72 or something like that? I seem to recall it had a very interesting history in terms of numbers or registration.

I apologise for not getting back to you sooner, I have been travelling and have over 1,200 emails that require my attention  The H2a like many of the Triple range, has some anomalies in both the lettering and colour of the stripes, certainly very early models had all white lettering on the tanks, followed by yellow and Red stripes on the Purple models, I don't have the exact V.I.N. that they changed the colour to Red and Orange - photos of the different colours are available with my ebay advert, unfortunately whatever colour it left the factory with, if it fades then it fades to White.

The stripes are the same, doesn't matter if the paint is purple or gold, right J.P.?

yes yellow and red on very earlier gold or purple and then orange and red on gold or purple to say nothing about KAWASAKI lettering on the tank as Riçk notes.
See here the lettering on pre-serial H2A (euro brochure)

http://www.kawtriple.com/mraxl/brochures/h2a-1.htm

But white and red stripes are just faded on the white stripes (should be yellow or orange when new) as Rick notes also.

Will H2A decals have a decent fit on an H2?
