K so im finally making some progress. Ive got my 73 H1D torn down to a roller. I will tear that down & do bearings and bushings also! I want to do a basicly stock street resoration (not every nut and bolt perfect but really nice) w/exception of chambers and airfilter. Stage 1 , So im debating between painting or powdercoating. Pros & cons and if paint is there a certain paint that works best for frames? Thx Doug i will post some pics in a bit

I have a powder coating here that sand blast and paints for $120 which includes the frame and misc parts. He did my RZ at the end of 2010. He had my parts ready in less than 24 hrs. That is the main pro for me. On the down side once the powder is baked it is there for good-I'm not sure how you get it off.

If your building a rider, then PC, much more durable IMHO

Never heard of anyone getting PC off but a good tip is that you can re-powder coat over top again.

I also found a killer paint by Rust Bullet. It is the BlackShell.
(link removed at request of RustBullet.... just Google it)
I used it on my 71 frame after blasting. A lot of people think it was powder coated. Super hard & durable but the color is not a deep black. I recommend spraying it with a gun. Use a cheaper gun you don care too much about & clean immediately after use.

But if I could get blast & PC ofr $120 I'd go that route. That price doesn't cover the hassle of blasting let alone coating.
