well spent some time Sunday, all the pannels and tank are in primer, Engine out and semi stripped, wheels off.
I hope to have the carbs stripped tonight and the gunk removed, I have oiled all the cables, thinking about getting a new chain? I have a brand new one off my R6 which I will measure up to see if it will fit? Fork valves I have had modified so I get better resistance and feel, heads and pots are away being sand blasted, they will be ready tomorrow, just waiting on a 0.8mm drill bit and my main jets , fork dust covers, 3 new spark plugs and then its ready to reassemble.
Wish I had taken pictures of the forks when I took them apart, cant remember where the small spring goes? can anyone tell me please:)

they are sat in soak, WD and Chem Dip didnt touch it, I hope to clean them up tomorrow, so it seems most of my rebuild attention will be focused on the carbs for now...

Thanks Grant I will take that, I will send yo my info in a PM :)

Yes I want to Harbor Freight and got the $80 ultrasonic cleanser and after doing some tests used 50/50 white vinegar with Distilled water and a dozen or so drops of dawn

so now the metal looks dull but its not full of calcium, took probibally 6 hours but its best part done.

New tires fitted today Battleax 45s, the rear was a pig to get on, will post some pics tomorrow :)

Well after 8 hours in my ultrasound tub the carbs came out looking good

new problem, one of my cylinders has a crack in the bottom and one other has a score, I believe I caused the score when sliding it over the piston rings, managed to find 3 more and will fit them next weekend so on to do the forks, paint and put rear rim back on with its new tire.. annoyed withmyself for not taking more care putting the jugs back on,, darn it... expensive lesson

Nice job on the bike!!!

Thank you so much Grant for the lens, I have it recolored already and will be putting it in place shortly.

An update, I have polised the forks, today all the parts arrived so I can assemble them, but this morning I dropped my gas tank after painting it last night, no dings but paint sctatched so this morning I stripped it back to base metal again,, and now its in primer ready to be painted later today, I could have done without this setback but its my own fault, ah well.

New tires are on the rims, rear rim is now on the bike after I took all the rear brake assembly apart and cleansed and lubed all moving parts, the rim went back like a charm.

So I am slowly getting there, I am not in any hurry but can see progress almost every day :D

So been busy doing lots of small jobs, forks now assembled and fresh oil in them, modded as per suggestions of others and hope to feel a difference?
Decided to snap up a set of cylinders that had only done a few hundred miles, what the seller failed to mention was he had painted them black so spent all day yesterday stripping the crud off them and polishing the ports, I will polish a little more today but they now look acceptable, painted the tank and pannels this morning, quite pleased with the result.
Hope to have the engine back together this evening and maybe in the bike if I feel like lifting the heavy lump, cant believe how solid it is, that will teach me a lesson for not woring out :)
So fresh pics....
