Last time I searched my local Auto Zone the clear wasn't lacquer; I should check again
Then again, things might have changed; the 70's enamel was not meant to be bufferd, or, maybe I suck with a rattle can

they have 2 clears Jim...... Are there any O Reileys around you?

I think they look great Mark. My problem with all painting especially cans is 1) putting on too much at once and it runs, and 2) with cans, get the splatter - how can I avoid this one?

I do pretty good with my spray gun though (if I don't do #1)....

A common problem; if you paint it "dry" there is limited gloss with rattle cans; paint it too wet and it runs or sags
That's why I like lacquer, mistakes can be wet sanded and buffed out to super high gloss

Back in the day, I watched a painter shoot some really big metalflake on a tank, side cover set and helmet,
He literally layed the clear coat on (on later coats) so heavily that it ran; he said that it was faster to wet sand and compound the sags out than it was to lay that many coats over the big flakes

They looked perfect when finished
-----------------------------------------------------
When using 2K epoxy clears, do you have to lay the last coat super wet in order to get high gloss?

Wow, some nice work out there.

I've had mixed results with the can. Best results for me came when I built a small paint tent with cheap plastic tarp material, then making a lot of really light coats. Plus a lot of time to cure and some wet sanding and, well, a lot of work.

I did one in rattle can truck bed liner paint, it was fun project (back in 2006) and I was able to put tens of thousands of trouble free miles on that bike.
