I just got a spiffy set of shocks only to find although they fit the mounts fine,
the chain gaurd fouls on the spring ( about 1/4" bigger ).
i thought about running without the gaurd but it wont clear the chain either.
is there a hagon or other brand shock that is known to clear.
just thought if someone else had allready been down this road it would help me out.
TIA
mark

Mark, Hagons are available with two spring diameters. The small ones are about 1/16" smaller in diameter than my old stock H2 springs, and nearly 1/4" smaller than some early H1 springs I have. I believe they will work fine on your H1 too, but I'm sure someone who's done it will confirm.

The customer service at Dave Quinn Motorcycles, where I got my Hagons, is excellent. He does tend to recommend springs that are too stiff, or at least he did a couple years ago. Email me if you you want the details of mine.

The ones you originally bought, are they those Redwing NOS retro shocks? I bought those and couldn't fit them on my H2 either.

no z they were from "mikes xs " site.
nice shocks but the spring dia was too large and fouled on the chain and sprocket.
cheap enough $200 inc shipping.
but dont fit so they are being returned.
i have a tendency for cutting corners and end up spending more in the long run doing it properly.
cheers mark
