Yup! And in my opinion, those gauges are much racier looking...I've always liked them.

finally got to work in the garage for a little last night, pulled the engine. Its interesting what you find under the carbs. Found some leaves, a few screws and a screwdriver tool. I have a friend thats rebuilding a 73 h1 and we have a powdercoater that will do both frames and 4 rims for $400.00 thats the best deal i can find around here.

Hi Tango I`ll be following your rebuild with interest as I am just finishing one now. Can`t tell you anything you won`t get off these guys though. I had also done a few four strokes and thought I`d kill it on the triple as strokers are simpler right? Yeah right, but everthing needs to be spot on I tell you. If it`s not running just right get advice, don`t do what I did and try to work it out yourself as manuals are all differrent and sometimes just wrong and if it`s not right it could end in major malfunction as I now know. Good luck. Steve.

Thanks for the input Green!

Here are some more pics. Took the front end off and found that the fork tubes are bent, must have been in a wreck. going to power wash the frame and double check that its not bent before i go too far. Found a crack and a protrusion in the right engine cover just under the oil pump. I was hoping not to have to rebuild the engine but might have to just do it. Ill post everything i find out on here to get input. Pic of the crack below.

finally down to the frame, sending it for powdercoating in a couple days

Anyone wanna bet the star lock washer isn't on the oil pump drive bolt?

I think it also explains why the crank bearings were toast. I filled it in with jb weld.

in the meantime I have the rest of the bike taken apart. Found out the fork tubes were bent. so i ordered new repros. The frame is now powdercoated along with the rims, now its time to clean, paint , polish all the small stuff and start putting the bike back together.
