I have the wiring mostly done on my S3 and there is no electrical ground wire to the engine. To the best of my knowledge (and my pictures) there was no ground wire or strap on this bike. I think there needs to be one from battery Neg to the engine case.

Correct?

The OEM wire runs from the rear motor mount to the sprocket cover... but what you suggest will work.
