There aren't any electronics in the stator, just coils of wire. Removing the coils would be a big mess, since they're glued to the iron poles. You'd most likely damage them in the process.

I think I'm going to try the Evaporust. That stuff really works. Just for clarification, are you guys saying it's OK to submerge the electronics or are you recommending a full disassembly of the stator assembly to treat only the ferrous metal components (which makes more sense to me).

Submerge the whole she-bang .. I've done it.

These look like yours before. Vapor blaster, no I’ll effects. Changed the screws, Otherwise they would be silver colored.

Just check out any of my restoration threads and you can see the process. Disassemble, strip, re-plate with gold chromate and re-assemble.

Just to avoid confusion, that's gold colored zinc chromate. :)

I could use some guidance from the Forum experts.
Is there a proper method for separating the stator from the aluminum housing? They seem to be corroded together.

Thanks for any input!

There is a small edge you can use to tap it loose with a punch. Just go easy and tap a little in different spots until it falls out.

Also, aluminum expands with heat more than iron, so a little warmth will help.
