There was not a "lot" of rebound-damping in the early forks and shocks, the forks worked pretty well considering, imo, but the rear shocks not so much.......

I was planning to get some brass swing arm bushings installed today but the old steel bushings are resisting all of my efforts to drive then out. Any tips or tricks to remove them?

My H2 had the green fiber bushings and I had to drive them out with a steel bar and a big hammer, and even then they came out in pieces.

Will the long center sleeve come out with the bushings installed? Seems like it ought to but mine is being stubborn.

It's been ten years since I did mine, but as I remember you have to push the center spacer over to one side so you can get a drift on the far bushing and whack it.

Page 55 of the Kaw shop manual shows what I mean. http://kawatriple.com/manuals/hseries/page_067.pdf

Jim is correct, reach in with a long punch(using the punch to push the sleeve to the side)and drive them out. You don't have a lot of surface to grab with the punch and a lot of times it will rip a piece of the bushing off so you can't hammer on that spot again. Sometimes they come out easy and sometimes very hard and you have to use a little heat.

Thanks guys for the reply.
Yes, it looks like I'm going to need to apply some heat to get the bushings out. They're actually in service limits. Wondering if the juice is worth the squeeze in this case.

Is it possible to obtain a replacement steering lock key?
Looks like part number 277

Thanks for any replies!
