I am trying to keep my bike as original as possible. When buying a seat cover I also bought a seat strap. The old seat didn't have one but I'm not sure if that was because it was removed or never had it. Now I am recovering the seat and want to know. Photos online only show about 25% of H1's with straps. Was it an option? Where and how is it supposed to be attached? Photos please? Thanks for your help. |

US models never had the strap, UK and I think most European models did and I'm not sure about Canada... I would say that if it has a rear fender, it probably had the strap. |

I know it is a requirement for Japan. I bought a VF500 Interceptor Honda new on Okinawa in 1985 and adding the seat strap was part of the JCI (Japanese Compulsory Inspection) to be able to operate it there as it was a US spec bike. They also had to put on a KPH speedometer. The domestic Japanese bikes came with it. They charged me about $500 to do thier safety inspection and add those two things on a brand new 0 mile bike. |
