Below is a photo of an H1 that has few few non-correct issues for this bike.
The bike is beautifully done and must be a joy to drive but did the owner devalue it with the following changes?
Some of the upgrades I would like to do my bike but not if it devalued it significantly.
Painted Headlight brackets
Painted front fender
Modern Green paint colours
Modern Kawasaki logo
Air filters
Upgraded shocks
Upgraded Exhaust
Aluminum rims
Personally I think this bike looks better than a stock model but that's just me.

If you're concerned about how easy it will be to sell after you're tired of it..stock is best. Even those who don't like stock, will see it as a blank canvas for their own mods. It is rare to do a bunch of changes that actually "tick the boxes" for the next owner.

I agree, that bike looks great!

I couldn't care less what the value of my H2 is and how modifications affect it, since I'll never sell it.

Me too! Have LOTS of goodies in it but most you can't see (except Don's gauge rebuild - they really stand out).

The bike above doesn't seem to have a factory paint process or colours. I actually like this better than the original. In looking at H1's online, the colours all seem different from one another. Does it matter if I decide to sell in a few years?

You will only get the best value with totally stock triple. If you want an enjoyable riding bike then mods are necessary.

Absolutely. My stock H1 I had as a teenager scared the crap out of me, with its stock suspension, it was an accident in the making. In 1979 it was only 9 years old, but in New Zealand the title remained the same document with the bike, so you saw all the other owners on the papers. It had 30k miles and TEN owners before me! Basically it was bought for a summer and sold on by each owner, likely because it was evil to ride and had been dropped countless times before me. If I knew what I know now I would have worked the suspension over and made it at least as good handling as the 100cc sized forks would allow.

Just mod it like YOU want it, but ensure those mods are all reversible back to OEM. This way you can enjoy the poop out of it while YOU own and ride it, and then revert it back if/when you decide to sell it to some other lucky person.

Locate spares for the items you would modify, like bodywork, rims, etc. That way if you custom paint or respoke to alloy rims, you will still have OEM parts to reinstall.

Oops... you're 40 years too late with that advice for me.

So far, everything I have done has been to keep it all stock. I have purchased a stock decal and masking kit. but have yet decide what colour to paint it. Red or green.
I have read that 2010 Honda Dark Cherry Red is a very close match to the original 74 Candy Red.(Toyota Barcelona Red for the stripe)
But I can't seem to find a close enough match to the 74 greens (in a base coat clear coat) that could still be resold as original ish???
