It's almost time to find some ethanol free gas.

Back in the day we used to refer to them as Seizeco pistons. Product is much better these days

I had purchased a couple of fuel petcock filters last year. I was not too happy with them.
I searched around till I found this second type. They are listed for a Triumph, but seemed like they might work on the H2.
I was pleased to find they can work. The nylon is sturdier than the other types listed for H2's, and have a nice brass filter screen about twice the size of the other. I put one on the brass tube and it fit great. They come with a small thread on the open end, and for the reserve opening I lightly sanded the threads till I got a snug fit and could push it in with a small screw driver.

Since I live 20 miles north of NYC, finding ethanol free premium is not simple. The nearest station is 2 counties north and about 84 miles round trip.
I refuse to put 10% garbage in the H2, so I took the trip with my gas cans and got 9 1/2 gallons of 91 straight gas for about $55. I also wanted to put some in my generator since it sits a lot.

A small issue came up. The bike seemed to be running rich, and I checked the plugs. Left was looking ok, but the center and right were pretty carboned up.
A quick check and I saw a bit of gas coming out of the 2 carbs.
I pulled the carbs, and the floats are in good shape, and the levels are good at 25mm. It seems as though the float valves will need to be replaced. A close look seems to show a bit of a groove has developed during it's 13,314 miles and 50 years.
What is the general opinion on replacements for them? Any of these good?

If I need to replace mine I'll probably go with the Viton-tipped kind. Last time mine got rings worn in them I had the same rich problem you have. I think the last tank I ran with them got about 40 miles to reserve!

I made a little collet for them, put them in the lathe, and took a light cut to remove the rings. They've been working for about 12 years since then. Do you have a lathe or access to one?

Nice photos, by the way.

I would have to pay to have someone to put them on a lathe, so new is the better option.
I have not seen Viton tipped ones for sale.

I bought my Viton tipped float needles for my H2 out of Canada many years ago. No; sorry, I don’t remember from which company? They have worked flawlessly. Maybe mentioning Canada will prompt and jog someone’s memory??
