How does this plastic tray fit in there? It should fit up onto the shelf, right? aka, in its finished position, when I pick up the seat I'd see the bolts through black.
or does it sit on the frame and the tail on top of it?

is there a trick or technique?
It feels as if I force it, the plastic will crack &/or shatter into lots of sadness....

Tuck it in from underneath, you are half way there, as per your pic!! No need to force anything. So, the 'notches' along the plastic edge go into the pressed metal notches at the back, under the t/light. It goes under the ears for the frame mount bolts.

Interestingly I have a patten plastic tool tray that's too big for the tail piece
It was sold to me by a well known triple expert
Last time I posted a picture on here I used photobucket, but my account is locked as I have too many photo's for the free account :roll:

Will do some investigating?
