Hello Like some of you i can not get my front brake "hard". The master cylinder and caliper i have restored and don't leak. So look fine to me now. But after many methods of flushing the brake remains soft.The rubber lines do flex and move a lot under pressure. Maybe i should buy new ones. Which can you advice to buy (in Europe ! ) and stay as original as possible. No steelflex so. I also read that the brake switch can cause this. Anybody has experience on this ? The brake pads are brand new but id did not check if they are perfect parallel to the disk. If they are not i have read that this also can cause soft brake feel. Grts Patrick Belgium |

I always notice a slightly softer feel after changing pads. Then it returns to normal after the pads wear to fit the disk. How soft is it? Can you squeeze the lever all the way to the handlebar? If not, it might be best to wait until you ride it for a while to see how bad the problem really is. Welcome to the board Patrick! |

No not really to the handlebar, but for my 30 year experience quite soft. After a night under pressure ( for flushing the air ) the feel stays the same. So the system is not loosing al it pressure. That is a positive point. |

The stock rubber line is old and and can be dangerous. The inner lining separates and can block the fluid flow locking or not allowing flow. And as you observed, they expand, so yes you will get a soft feel until you find a nos line or go steel braded. |

Over the decades, I have used braided steel lines, but have also "gotten away with" using a rubber hose cover over the braid. Makes the braided lines look fairly close to stock, but not 'historically correct'. Just depends on how much stealth you wish to be. |
