Hello all,

First post here and thought I would break the ice with a question I've wondered about for years (35 years in fact). I'm getting ready to restore my old '75 H1F and then it will be on to a '72 H1B. I was going through all the old parts (the H1B is basket case at the moment) and I was reminded of this somewhat special oil tank that came on the H1B when I purchased it as a complete roller in the '80s. I'm not sure if someone had this chromed or if they ever came that way from the factory

I will be going with the OEM orange paint and don't need chrome, so I'm trying to decide if I should seek out another tank to paint orange and preserve this one.

Thanks for your comments.

It didn't come from the factory that way.

Good to see you here! Welcome.

I had a surplus H2 side cover that came with a parts lot I bought years ago. Decided to sell it outright and someone wanted it. None of the Triples came with chromed oil tanks or side covers.

Thanks for chiming in. It stands to reason that its not a factory job considering the chrome is still in great shape yet LOL.

I wonder if there is a matching chromed left side cover out there somewhere!

Hey, there's a familiar forum name in a strange new place! Thanks for the welcome and the tip to give this forum a try, over at the RZ site. I just signed up yesterday and I'm still getting a feel for the place. There is a ton of info here that will help as I continue my journey with the old Kawi's.

I've owned both of my current H1's since the '80's. I had a third one (the first purchased actually and shown in my avatar), but sadly it was stolen, otherwise I'm sure I would still have it yet too after all my custom work on it.

My first H2 was a '72 that came with a '73 parts bike with hideous chrome sidecovers. I sold the bike '83ish, I saw it around 1990 at the dragstrip with those ugly-ass chrome covers. I hate chrome.

They look terrible, chrome has had its day. I am of the "paint it black and put it back" school, myself. :D
