I was wondering dates on tires and how it initially wears/feel vs. performance.

I have found lots of these cycle tires are older and skin. The skin is hard and messes up the underlayment rubber.

Do we have a fresh source for some suggested tires?

My old Dunlop k391 tires were excellent til the day i replaced due to being solely 30 years old.

cliff

in my opinion sticky rubber- cold and warm
if they wear out, it's a measure on your joy!

Or maybe Kaw Belle if your triple is female.

I recently replaced the rear BT-45 on my CB, bought it on Amazon...

https://www.amazon.com/Bridgestone-BATT ... 308&sr=8-1

I put Continentals on my H2 when restored two years ago, nice vintage tread pattern, highly recommended...

My H1 needs a rear tire and I am considering putting this Dunlop K70 on it, anyone have these?

Good morning, all.

This is my initial post. I am getting my 1972 H2 back on the road after 20+ years in storage. What tires do you recommend?

I know I NEED tires! I am leaning toward the BT-46s but wondered what you recommend and I assume I will need tubes? Or will I?

I’m sure there will be many many more questions, but this one is the most obvious as the continentals are dry rotted.

Thank you, in advance!

I think that's a good choice, Howlinmad. I'm still running BT45s, but as I understand it it'll be BT46s next time I need tires. I like the handling of them on my H2, and find they don't wear out as quickly as some others I've tried.

I don't always change tubes when I change tires. It just depends on what the old ones look like, especially around the valve stem.

Welcome to the board!

Good morning, Jim and thank you!

Yes I will need tubes (I assume) because the current ones are 20+ years old.

Question
If I use the Bridgestones - will I need tubes? Will I (should I put in valves)? If so, what kind / brand do you recommend?

Where do you recommend shopping?

Thank you

Martin

If you have stock rims you will certainly need innertubes unless you've sealed them for tubeless use. I don't like that idea though, since tubeless tires are made for rims that have retention ridges at the beads so if one goes flat it doesn't unseat and flop around.

There are lots of places with good tire prices. American Motorcycle Tire is good, as is Chaparral. But that's not a recommendation, just a couple places I've bought from.

I have been running Shinko's for years now, just my preference. 712 sets H rated, 740/741 V rated and the 230 Tourmaster's. About $90/$120 a set for the smaller tires and all have had excellent grip. It has been a good alternative for multiple bikes. They seem to wear decent too but I ride multiple bikes.

I'm looking at a set of Shinkos as well. Are your rims and fenders stock? What size did you put on?
Prise is right for a cruising bike I might put 400 km a year on.

I was a BT45 man for years and loved them. Then I tried Avon AM26 Roadriders and I now have them on all three of my 2 strokes.
