Leroy bought this H1 from RB when he had his sale last fall. It was a decent bike but needed a lot of help to be new again. Instead of stock CDIs there was an ignition system from a Chrysler outboard. The gas tank is original paint and so is the battery cover. The oil tank had to be re-painted because of a dent in the middle. I still need to find a set of front tank mount reflectors and the gas tank decal, oil tank decal and ISO decal are still on the way. Other than that it's done and runs very well. I think Leroy has all the years and colors of 500s now.

I went out to my shed and took the reflectors off my spare 69 H1 and restored them to put on this bike. I think they turned out pretty good.

Stripped to bare steel.

Re-plated and gold chromated.

Add reflectors and we are good to go.

Excellent rebirth. Leroy is a lucky man.

Ask him if he wants to take a nice outdoors photo to send for the 2020 calendars.

Peacock or Charcoal Grey, my absolute fave H1

Thanks fellas. I don't know why the pictures have gotten so big in my last two threads, I'd like to fix it. It's like looking at it with a magnifying glass. I guess if your build can pass the close up photo test it should be alright. When I take it up to Leroy in a couple of days I will get a few decent outdoor pictures.

As usual, GREAT work, and extremely nice resto. Only one thing, and it might just be the way the camera caught it, left hand side of the tank, Kawasaki decal in the knee recess, looks like it is aimed downwards towords its rear, droops downwards, not straight out. Still, absolutely fantastic work, sir.

Next time we talk, remind me about the prototype I have, it needs a full redo, and I doubt I can do it any year soon with the damage to my left hand from the Brown Recluse spider bite.

Thanks Dave I will. You are right about the angled Kawasaki letters, both sides are angled down in the rear. The tank and battery cover are original paint from mother Kaw, you can see the angle in the first picture. I think the grey looks very nice but it's not my favorite either. When it was sitting beside my 69 everyone that saw them liked the white better. The 1972 H2B is my favorite 500 Kawasaki.
