I have been waiting for parts for Leroy's bikes forever so I decided to build a bike for me. I just tore this one apart 4 weeks ago and started putting it together last Sunday. Everything went smooth for a change and everything lined up just right. I had the chrome back in 10 days and the paint was back in 2 weeks. I had the chrome flash chromed like it was originally instead of triple chromed like usual, it turned out great. I still have to find the other cable guide for the tachometer mount and I am waiting for the carb caps to show up too. I am going to start it tomorrow or the next day. All of the wiring, the main harness, the battery harness, the taillight harness, and the distributor/spark plug harness are all nos. The insulator, gaskets, rotor and cap and spark plug caps are also nos. The only thing I can think of that is incorrect is the kick-pedal boss. I checked my other 69 and it also has the square boss so I can't steal it from there. It will have to work for now. This is the first bike I have got to build for myself in 4 years and it feels good. :D

I took the cylinder apart and dumped the fish oil.

I replace it with fork oil.

The carbs were nasty.

They cleaned up fine.

I re-plated and chromated the coil and clamp and the carb clamps.

I should have the oil tank sticker Monday and it will be finished. If the weather ever clears for a bit I will fire it up and go for a ride. :D

Dang Jeff! That machine is incredible! You do such great work it is about time you did one for yourself. Can't wait to hear you report back after your test and tune. Simply outstanding!

Thanks guys, I appreciate the compliments. This is the 18th restoration I've done since I joined the forum 5 years ago. I feel very lucky to be able to so this for a living, the fun is still there. I have had the honor of restoring some of the greatest bikes ever built. It just seems weird to look at this one and realize it's not Leroy's, it's mine. :D
