Things like the tires....some of the $$ stuff, I have to wait on. I didnt want things like that to hold me up for now.
Handlebars are cheap enough but I put the old ones on for now so I can roll it around the shop at least.
The rear tire has a story behind it, but its totally me.
It had continentals on it when I bought it 25 years ago or so. (I only ever had it on the road for about 4 years--up until about 4 years ago.)
The rear started cracking pretty bad during the time I actually rode it. I was at a motocross race and I was at the tracks power washer at the end of the day and there was the usual pile of tires there. I saw that tire, it was an 18 and I grabbed it. It had a thin nail like thing thru it...I put an inner tube in it and used it. The front is still the old Continental. Great tread, but some sidewall cracking so it needs done as well. Point is if I had to wait for the cash for tires it would be sitting there...and as it comes together I get more excited about it and am more apt to work on it.
Rear brakes as well...as I put the wheel on, I remembered the rear shoes are near the end of their wear. Ill do those when I put the tire on the back.
Ive got the wiring harness on the bench now. Its a mess.
Guess I could sort the carbs out next. Its hard to pick whats next sometimes.
When it comes time for the bodywork paint, Ill have to make some decisions. Im going to see how affordable taking the pieces to an autobody place will be.
I have a lot of family in the business and can probably get a break. I can do a reasonable rattle can job but I want better this time.
