I agree there - decal placement is VERY important. Fortunately mine came out satisfactory.

Keep us posted.

Got hold of John at LRC a while ago, he said he would repaint the tank if I paid for the paint.
That gave me second thoughts so I thought about it for a while and continued with the Resto.
Anyway when putting the tank on the bike it just looks wrong.
So I have recontacted John to repaint the tank even though I have to pay for the paint.....Do you guys think thats fair of him to charge that?
I will update you when he answers me.
The paint job cost over $1000 and I sent him a very nice original tank with great paint graphics just a nasty scratch down it and a few dings.
Laters!!

If you have the discussions in writing/E mail and pictures I would think you have a case. Seems that has become a requirement these days, proof, proof and more proof. If I lost my mind and had painting done (I'm cheap  ) I would probably send a stencil of decal placement.

You can't really get more accurate that sending an original tank and saying "copy this"

John has contacted me and he is going to take care of it.
Just wants me to indicate where I want the lettering to start which I can do no problem.
Will update with results later.

Hi There,
Just an update, I sent the tank back to John and told him to just fit it in when he can as he was very busy.
I was very busy at work so had no problem with time frame.
He asked me to show me where I wanted the "Kawasaki" placed each side which I did no problem from another tank I had.
I got it back a few weeks ago and just gave it the once over.
I think he said he managed to remove the original letters ok (they are painted not decals).
The tank now I think is flawless I can't see any area which has evidence of rework and decal placement is now to my and original specs.
I want to thank John for working with me on this and I am now a happy customer.
I will soon be sending him more work including another Triple set (which I will make sure to emphasize paint as original decal positions) and my Benelli Sei Tank for repainting, which I have NOS side panels for paint match. Thats how much confidence I have in him now.
Rgds...

I am going through a 72 H2 now and have some questions about colors. In searching for restored 72's I see mostly blue ones and even the blues out there vary from dark blue candy to bright blue candy to the solid blue in the OP. How do you know which version you will receive back from a painter? What are your thoughts on all the variations out there?

I only found a couple of 1972 candy gold H2's, why so few?
