Post subject:  Product Review-Doremi Turn Signals

After crashing my H1F, I purchased the reproduction Doremi turn signals from one of our triple suppliers. I believe my turn signals were originals or original replacements.

2-stars
These turn signals look great and match my originals beautifully. However, the similarities end there. :(

The replacement fixtures are 2-filament, 2-wire fixtures. Both wires will not fit thru the stems so you have to disassemble the fixtures to remove the extra wire.
The original fixtures have a soft rubber piece between the socket and the fixture that serves as a shock absorber; the reproductions do not.
The originals have highly reflective mirror-like reflectors. The replacements have reflectors that are very low quality and molded into the socket.
The originals have a rubber seal where the wire leaves the fixture to keep water and spiders out, while the reproduction do not.
The originals have seals on the lens screws, while the reproduction do not.
The stem housings are accurate, but the hollow, threaded studs that come with them are ¾” too long and will hit the tire or headlight and had to be cut off. Cutting them leaves a sharp edge that needs to be filed smooth to prevent cutting the wire. I would have removed the old ones for reuse, but after 45 years, galvanic corrosion has sealed them in forever.

These are my opinion, and of course, I could be wrong.
After a lot of work to get them installed, they do look great.

It bugs me that most repop stuff is so crappy. Restorers would gladly pay for quality parts...but?

After a few years, my repop signals look worse than the 40 year old parts I took off..

Do the stock signal main bodies re-chrome ok or is the zinc based metal no good for that?

Thx for the reviev Steve.
Excuse me if I High-jack the thread, but it makes me a little worried though. Found it reassuring that Doremi makes orig H1 exhausts as repop, but if quality is similar to the turn signals :(

Any thoughts / experiences ?

H2 repro exhausts are perfect, like genuine Kawasaki then can break at the end of the exhaust and the baffle comes out with a part of the exhaust :D (true story)

I bought Doremi exhaust for my Z1 two years ago, the fitment was perfect and easy, the finish is still excellent two years later.
Disappointed to hear their signals are subpar.

It isn't that they are sub-par, it's that they are pretty much generically wired and it doesn't always match the Kawasaki wiring. I take the guts out of the original signals and put them in the new bodies. The finish on the signals is excellent and when wired properly and installed they look great.

I;m with you I fitted the blinkers and needed to change all the guts over from the old genuine ones to have a reliable set up
