Old topic but still relevant with an old bike. I'm cleaning and polishing my rear wheel. I noticed the "Bead Protector" on the rim and it is very heavy. I tried to counter the weight (statically balance) with about 60g of fishing weights but the bead protector is still heavier. With new tires, do I need the bead protector? |

There should be 2 of them, 180 degrees apart. |
