I am about to install the "41039-019 SPACER front hub bearing" and both bearings into the front hub and then lace the wheel. However, I notice there is no cut-out ridge/groove inside the hub that seems to act as a guide/placement holder for the spacer. It doesnt really seem to matter if the grove is there or not because the axle will be resting on both end bearings. Was the groove created by the spacer or was it pre-cut from factory??? Can anyone shed some light on this??? see pics Both front hubs ![]() groove cutout in old hub ![]() No groove ![]() The spacer that lines into the groove...did this spacer actually cut out the groove??? ![]() |

I think that the spacer may have caused the ring in the hub. The little metal ring on the spacer is there to help keep the spacer lined up with the wheel bearings to make it easier when you put the axle through. |

Quote: The little metal ring on the spacer is there to help keep the spacer lined up ...hummp, of course (I can hear the engineer saying "You can thank me later"). But then I really dont understand the idea of the spacer, its not like both end bearing are going to drop through. I guess the shavings from the ring wont be that much, no more than break dust, getting into the bearings. Looks like I may have a new hub ![]() |
