I don't think babying an H2 is worth it...I have beat the lovin' daylights out of mine for years and it just keeps rocking.

I bought a pair of rear shocks from Niche Cycle. These seem like well built items, Chinese I'm sure, will see what they are like. I had to mount them right side up, I think they were supposed to be upside down mounted as the bushings worked that way. But the springs hit my chambers, which I have mounted in really close, so I flipped them over, I think they look better that way anyway. I have worked on Chinese pit bike shocks before and found them to be well made, but they have awful oil in them, ATF I think, and work a lot better after you use BelRay or other good oil. Plus these are a little short of oil, I can tell right at the top of the stroke. So I will use them a little then dump the crap oil out and refill with decent stuff. Just testing them on the bench, they have less spring preload, slightly lighter bump and a lot lighter rebound, all of which I wanted.

I got the whole chain oiler system completed. The hose was an odd size, 7mm, Mcmaster had that. Found a new oil valve clamp, and an oil valve that was rebuildable. Bought a new repro tank and cap. But the tank strap was a problem, only found one expensive one that looked like it was dead, so I took a chance on a different part number, 92072-012 which said it was a tool strap. It seems perfect in length and fits the strap grooves on the tank nicely. Hard to see it in the pic, but I'm happy with it. I will never fill the tank with oil, but nice to have it all there.

You should have a rubber strap to block the small oil tank.

Yes, I do have one, that's the 92072-012 part number strap I used here, it's hard to see it in the pics I guess, available right now on Ebay for $5.99 plus shipping.

I thought the H2B did not come with the oiler system?

I needed to raise the H2 off the ground with some kind of stand. I wanted to lift both ends at once, good for wheel cleaning, service and long term storage off the tires. I don't have a center stand, and a stock one probably wouldn't fit with my chambers anyway, so I made this scissor stand from Ebay, about $45, adapt to the frame of the H2. It lifts off the front lower engine mount cross tube and the center stand pivot tube locations. But the stand as I got it was badly thought out; the bike would tilt to either side because the X braces were all separate pieces. I welded them together to the through bushes, and that fixed it, very nice now. It lifts both ends off the ground nicely and feels really stable.

really nice work--nice and compact...looks like some low profile casters could be handy for moving her a round?

Next work is to rebuild the forks. The fork tubes have rust, one seal is leaking bad and the lowers need cleaning up and polishing. Plus I am adding emulator valves. Got them apart and studied the modifications it will need to make these XS650 valves work. I think I need to machine the aluminium spring seats down, off the top faces where the spring actually locates, and machine them past the oil holes so the oil does not bypass the valves. Still have not got it clear in my head how the original rebound damping works, guessing it flows through the tiny side holes, and another spring loaded part there....?
