I had set of Lesters collecting dust so I ordered new tires and bearing and they're ready. Plus i went tubeless.

The rims will have "tubeless" cast into them.

My Lesters definitely have the bead, but I didn't get them until 1979 or so. I wonder though why the beads are so important to tubeless tires, but not with tubed tires. Tubes don't make them stay in place if they deflate.

I think the bead on the rim is for safety in severe cornering, which I'll never do, or a severe pothole which your screwed anyhow. And I seriously doubt one could break the bead on a properly inflated tubeless tire while riding, unless of course a flat.
Over on the kzrider forum there a lot of guys running tubeless on a bead less rims. I won't lose any sleep over it

on second thought if your tire was low on air maybe the safety bead on the rim prevents the tire bead from breaking loose.

and hopefully we never hear the word bead again :?

I think this thread needs to moved from the "restoring section" to general chat. This bike will never be all shiny as new. I work in a dimly lit garage so today I pushed it outside to take a peak at in daylight, It's a good 20'r at best.
