Threads that are built in frame for my left side cover are stripped out. Any ideas to fix. I will have to look real close maybe theres enough in there to tap out to larger size. Using original knob type fastener not a big issue thanks in advance gregz |

I drilled out my left side cover's frame thread and re-tapped it to 1/4-20 about 32 years ago and it's still holding. I make the bolt good and tight, too. |

You could use a longer bolt with a "nyloc" nut on the back of the bracket so it isn't overtightened (to break the covers tab off) nor come loose?? |

Correction: I just had my left cover off, and I used a 5/16-18, not a 1/4-20 bolt. |

I don't know what size the screw is, I went to Ace Hardware, found some suitable knobs and tapped the frame for them - worked great! ![]() ![]() ![]() |
