Need some Tribal knowledge guys. Been beating my brains out all day..........long story short finally time for test and tune and right from the start I noticed cylinder #3 wasn't blowing smoke and was exhaust gas was significantly cooler than #1 and #2. after checking spark and pulling the carb off three times to go back thru it I finally noticed that on carbs #1 and #2 there is a brass plug blocking one of the two passages open to the fuel air screw port. Could this be the root of my problem and can I just plug it up to get some damn fuel to #3 cylinder?

Thanks in advance for your reply. If I was computer savy I'd post a pic :banghead

It could possibly be the problem, or part of it. Did you totally disassemble the carbs? Have you checked compression? Have you pulled up on the cable to see if the cylinder comes in? Is the plug wet or dry? Have you properly synced the carbs?

Carbs were totally disassembled, re jetted and rebuilt as part of the build. Checked compression early on....crap Harbor freight guage with long extension all read 90, but the bike runs well even on the two cylinders. Plug and top of piston dry and clean..... too clean. I synced the carbs with the slide set screw method.

Do you feel suction on your hand with the motor running? Have you tried spraying a bit of carb cleaner in the carb to see if the cylinder fires off? And you can always use the try and true method of switching carbs to see if the problem follows the carb.

I pretty much knew it wasn't a block off ball coming out, but one never knows, as guy are now ultrasonically cleaning parts and vibrating the block offs out.

Well blocked off the lower of the two air ports to the air screw and nothing. Still no smoke and cold air from exhaust. will pull the carb again and check the needle valve as the instructions indicate they are prone to clogging? Anything else anyone can think of let me know. been at it two days, think I've checked all the dumb stuff but....................
