You are correct... the MCyl cap used is from earlier models.
If you aren't aware... the dash light panel is a Japan only for later models. The H1D is unique to H1 & S for '73.

I actually got the one you show in the picture from Don when he restored the gauges. I left the Japanese one on for now because I think it looks cooler. 8-)

I do all the plating myself, it saves me a lot of trouble.

A fellow in Arizona named Hector that does a lot of painting from Leroy. I sent him the paint info from Dale's site and he did a nice job of copying it in 3 stage candy.
