I rode my H2b around last weekend and parked it in the garage. Went in a couple of days later to find a pretty significant amount of gearbox oil on the floor right under the overflow tube (which still had signs of oil dripping from it).

It was filled to the proper level (I'm pretty darn sure). I checked the dip stick and it was showing about an 1/8" over. I thought initially maybe I had fuel run in there but I cannot detect any smell of fuel. Is this even possible? I know the carbs could fail and fill the crankcase with gas but could it make it into the gearbox? Is the gearbox & crankcase areas separated from each other?

The only other thing I could think of to cause this would be a pressure build-up in the gearbox to drive out the overflow tube. Is this possible?

any ideas or other theories?..................

It is pressure build up and a common occurrence.

If the right outer crank seal failed that could do it. I had a outer bearing cage fail on a late H1 and waste the seal. If it was smoking more that usual out the
right cylinder pipe that would be a indicator of right seal failure. And if the right oil line check valve didn't seal that would give you a full transmission.
