After that stator plate cleaned up so well with Evaporust, I decided to try cleaning up this spare CDI box. Before pics ![]() ![]() After 2 hours soaking ![]() ![]() Stuff sure gobbles up the rust eh? |

That worked great. Is the finish bare metal now? I get them re-zinced; it is not expensive. |

Seemed to retain a sort of subdued finished look John. Still retains the anodize or whatever finish it had as new. Just kind of a faded look now, mostly due to age I imagine. |

Did you soak it or cover it with paper towels? I'm going to do a stator tonight and was wondering how the cdi held up |

I did a couple of KH400 stator plates and totally immersed them. I did the same with the CDI boxes I cleaned up. Tried to cover just enough so as to be able to hold the wires up out of the liquid. It gives the sheathing a sort of clammy feel. Not really slimy, but weird feeling. Then again, I sprayed with some contact cleaner to clean that up anyway. I did 3 boxes and the ones I did that were good to begin with, stayed fully functional. Tested all the coils on stators to be good as well. Low speed coils were already bad and have now been replaced with some of Jims excellent ones. I did get a good deal on a 5 gallon pail for 83 bucks at Amazon, with my Prime free shipping. Much better than buying 1 gallon at a time for 28-32 bucks a piece. |

That's pretty darn neat ![]() Wonder how that would work cleaning up cylinders and cases, might have to turn it down a bit ![]() ![]() |
