What's the proceedure for restoring lesters? I priced a restore from a mag wheel store but not at all sure they are up to the task or know what the task entails even thought they say they do.

I guess it depends on the type you have. Mine have all black spokes and a black ring of the rim in the center. It would be pretty easy to mask the two bare rim areas and repaint the rest. Do you have the type with the edges of the I-beams also bare?

I think mine are the other kind. Oh hey, my front has dual rotors? Is this for Z1's and H2's? The spokes have two raised ridges on the edge of each side of each spoke.......I think. Haven't looked at them in a while.............out to the garage loft I go. Pause....yes that is correct.

I just did mine that I recently purchased, the rear had the silver spokes and the front was black spoked.
I carefully used a Dewalt orbital sander with 220 grit and sanded the spoke edges, then finished with 1000 grit wet sand.. I used semi gloss spray paint, that I sprayed in a the cap and brushed on by hand. I masked of and sprayed the rear all black like Jim suggested I just preferred the extra bling and some more gloss on the spokes when I was done . So I basically did them twice, it took two weekends to get them how I liked them, I know that they are not stock resto but that's fine with me.. I found it was easier to paint by hand with a small brush to get in the low spots of the spokes and control the paint, if I did make a mistake i just wiped off by hand and kept going ..

How did you get a nice edge all the way around the black inset center? Tape?

Just used a 3/8 or so hobby paint brush I got a the paint store medium stiffness.. Just put the rim up on the work bench sat down and picked away at it .. Can cut in surprisingly well with those little brushes. I didn't sand any of the rim surface just the spokes ,that would of been another project in itself..

H2's never disappoint. Yours is dailed in bro. Just what I needed to get off my arse and keep working on my roller. Definetely do some rides when it gets warmer. Took my lesters to work today, I figure if I look at them all day long I will gussie them up. d
And thank you Johnny O for the lester pics. Mucho helpful.
