It does look good but shouldnt it be more of a gloss black rather than satin black. Or you not 2 bovered?
Look at that last pic! jeez those nips could realy weld back in the 70s

Yes, I actually wanted more of a gloss, but at this point my goal is to just get it going as soon as I am able to. So the paint is good enough for this bike.

I did chisel and grind off some of the smaller spatter from most of the frame, so it's better than before. I think the shadows in that swingarm picture make it appear worse, though we all know they aren't clean welds to begin with.

Looks good!

It's important to note, the S2 makes more HP per cc than any other triple. They're feisty!

Darrin, you should be able to hand polish the powder-coat to obtain a more "glossy" finish.
.....and it really shouldn't take that long to do. Just use a rag (old washcloth or t-shirt) and some 3M Cutting Compound and it will shine right up.

Try it first on a "test" area (out of sight) in case you don't like it.

I've had some success using filler primer on the pitting like you have on the chain gaurd. Coat and recoat then sand smooth.
Just a thought.
Looking great though !!!

But look which triple is a VERY close second place... :wtf:

Of course if you throw weight into the equation it's less impressive, but it did surprise me!

Disclaimer: This uses factory claimed HP figures...

FYI, row 6 shows what the HP would be for 748cc at each model's efficiency. :ugeek: For example, even a KH250 @ 748cc would make over 84 HP! :o Only the KH400 would make less HP than the H2, and that's well within the rounding error for the later models.

Very interesting 3Pipes. I've known the S2 was an ornery hombre since high school, when I dreamed about them, but I didn't know the S1 was nearly as radical, pound for pound.

Thank you Mr. Brightside, but as anemic as those figures are, they were the highest in the industry.

Haven't done a lot to date, but at least it's a rolling chassis, so I was able to roll it around near the fence for better pictures.

Note the euro(?) plastic fender extension...no razzing please... :shh:

Some chrome parts will need to get rechromed at a later date. Note the nice VIN decal!

I elongated the meter stud mounting holes and used allens in their place, so I can retain the 72 gauges.

:D
