After working on the basket case bike for the last 3.5 years, the best thing I can say is start with a complete assembled project bike. First goal is to make it a roller so it looks like you have accomplished something. It is a big mental boost to be able to push the bike around. Basket case H2 is a major undertaking and has been a big time eater as all the parts are from different years but it will be supercool when done. A 'parts bike' will also eat up more time and money as every little nut and bolt has to be hunted down. Alas another summer is here and the bike still isn't done.

my first H2 was a 74 and there are some subtle differences in the 72 that I now have.

everything is powdercoated and polished. But the chromers said today that the 25 little parts n pieces wont be ready till next week so I cant get it sitting up as a roller. I re-chromed all the little stuff like the chain tensioners, swingarm bolt and nut, the swingarm bolt end caps, brake pedal, shift linkage, etc.

I dont like the 72 brake housing being black. So its now polished too

Gotta agree with ktmguy's well done list. Critical thing for me is the long lead time for the painter to do his magic- it's usually two seasons wait!

I've heard of them and have seen their ads in Motorcycle Classics Magazine. Website looks really good as well, lots of pics of quality workmanship. Plus, they're only about an hour and half away...hmmm...
