Electrolysis worked great for me on the RD 350 tank I just did.

For what it is worth, my 10c on the subject, in years gone by, if you left you bike for any length of time with a FULL tank of fuel, it would be perfect no matter how many years went by before using it again - I have no clue what "modern" fuels would react like  - The very best way I know of leaving a fuel tank for any length of time is, to drain it completely and then pour 2 quarts of ANY oil into it! - It will be just as nice as when you left it MANY Years later

Do tanks come with some sort of coating from the factory? I've had my klr650 for almost 22 years and it's spotless inside. The one triple I had and rode a lot was premix so I figured that helped it. The mounted tank not so bad but has some flaking now that I looked closer although I can't see towards the seat area inside. I just don't want a pinhole so thought I better line it before hand. I'll hold off for now as I don't really ride it. Always just add fuel if I decide to take it out . Thanks

This guy really knows his stuff. Not cheap but very good. Videos on his web site. I have talked to him several times and he goes off on tangents but if you have a tank and it is rusty and you want to save the paint this is it PERIOD.

+1 on the Caswell for lining tanks. For removing rust that won't harm the paint, use Evaporust. Great stuff.

 Thought this company sounded familiar. Here's a copy and paste from a recent post on the RZ Forum from a member there who used them and got screwed.

" OK guys I will try to keep this short. In August of 2012 I sent my leaking tank to Fuel Tank Services in FT. Lauderdale FL. Just got it back 2 days ago, 14 months ago !!!! I will admit it was repaired once by a shop here in my town and they did a BAD job. Sent it to FTS and they stripped the inside of previous sealer that did not work and did their process. When I got it back it had a pretty good size dent in it that was NOT !!!! there when I sent it to them !!! I sent them my tank that was completely repainted and decaled, NO DENTS. I call the guy, George, and he avoids the dent question, "hell I don't know, its been here for so long I do not remember if it came to me with a dent". Well I assurred him it did not. So ... PLEASE help me out fellow members and spread the word to NOT EVER use this service. Fuel Tank Services in FL. If you all could tell everyone you know this story and even spread it to other motorcycle forums I would be veryyyyyy thankful. Thanks guys ....."

Forum member also went on to say "I was told it took that long because it was hard to get the previous repair gook out of the tank, which I do understand. BUT !!!!!!!!!!!!! getting it back with a large dent in it and no explanation it what pissed me off. You have no idea how &^%* mad I am. Bottom Line !!!!!!!!!! tell everyone you know to not use this service EVER !!!!!!!!!!! Please, for a fellow RZ fanatic !"

This guy/ owner may know his stuff but this review would be enough for me NOT to consider using them at all. Beware! :|

Having just removed that Kreem crap from my H2C tank left a quite badly surface rust inside the whole tank.
Evaporust removed it all and Caswell lined it and it came out looking perfect, beautiful red lining that will last a life time. Reminds me of the finish inside new aircraft fuel tanks.

I found out about Caswell's product by reading about industrial linings for chemical tanks. The way things go, I wouldn't be surprised if Caswell buys 55 gallon drums of industrial liner and repackages it. Research may prove that aircraft tanks are lined with the same stuff.
