I would restore it to it's last configuration. Much cheaper to do and the resale value as a period correct hod rod will be almost as much as a restored to original bike.

I actually hadn't thought much about this bike until about a month ago when I had wave of nostalgia and decided I'd like to ride it again.

In its current configuration it would be a wild ride but most of my time with the bike back then was when it was original and those are the memories I mostly have of it. It was really more fun to ride like that, after I put the Denco stuff on it, it was wicked fast but really not that enjoyable when just riding around. I learned that lesson while I owned it and my Z1000 at the same time.

I could of course swap the top end in the future. Regardless of which way I go the bike is pretty crusty and everything needs refinished.

I am thinking of keeping the Lester's, refinished as original, they are period correct. It does have a factory dual disk kit which I'm planning to also keep. The calipers and master cylinder need rebuilt of course.

I've had some luck acquiring parts, got a really nice complete airbox assembly and a lot of other bits and pieces for less than I thought. The main pieces I still need are a complete exhaust and a set of original carbs.

I do have both a set of J&R and never used Denco chambers I could use also.
