Yep..
I actually have a spray card here somewhere showing 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, coats of the candy red over the white base. By the final coat, the candy look is long gone and it just looks like a very fine metallic.

you MUST be able to see the base coat through the top coat or the whole point of a candy is null and void.

I appreciate all the insight. I was a little confused going into this...

I feel pretty good about the candy red we picked out. We took the rear cowl outside on a sunny day and matched it to a house of kolor card. It looks nuts on. I guess from here on out is all in the application. Fortunately my painter is old school and should know how the candy is applied.

Now about the inner red... where do I start? The original tank was in pretty bad shape and has already gone thru the boiling out process.

And, if the inner red is a candy wouldn't it have to be applied over the correct basecoat? Can I lay that on top of the darker red (with the correct basecoat of course)?
