battleax,
A dedicated headlight circuit with a control relay will save your old High/low beam switch/wiring and give the brightest light possible.

I need more information, about this. Thanks

Retro, I knew you broke something, nice job, well done. Thanks for the replies.

Here is the dedicated headlight circuit as installed in a 400 (generously posted by usernameandpassword):

http://home.comcast.net/~r.litten/Drawing1.pdf

It is part of this thread:

http://kawasakitriplesworldwide.com/php ... =2&t=55646

And a complete write up on the situation regarding low voltage/ light losses (and a provider of relays, as well as high quality H4 lens' (should you want to go for the ultimate setup)):

Edit: The H4 bulb's element(s) placement is different than your typical sealed beam unit. For best efficiency a proper reflector designed for the H4 bulb's characteristics/placement is essential to minimize the light scatter/loss and focus as much light being produced as possible on the road. (Kinda like how a Mag light is for focus sensitivity).

I wonder if a 5.75 inch H4 lens could be made to fit the stock H1A headlight pot?

Mine is not done but I went the route of the stock lens/reflector that has the replaceable bulb. After seeing the prices of sealed units going on evilbay I just said no way. Found an NOS lens PN 23007-013 (ebay BIN BO, good deal) & bulbs from powersporstplus were about $3ea @ 35w/35w. Other wattages can be had if I feel the need. Not H4 but cheaper in the long run than stock sealed beam. Old lights tend to cloud, even sealed beam. The NOS lens I got had the glass dirty & whiting out, reflector too. I used some ssimple green inside it & wadded up some toilet paper & stuffed it in. Shook the lens to move the paper wad & scrub it out. Rinse with hot water several times & last couple rinses with distilled water so there are no spots or minerals to corrode down the road. Heat the lens to help evaporate the final rinse with distilled water. Done this many, many time on old VW lights with great results. the TP does not scratch the reflector.

If you go the higher watt route, keep the lower watt bulb with you in case you are on a long ride & the charging system can't keep up. & definitely relay the system. Melted switches at night, on the side of the road are not fun. I've learned from the old VW's I have running European spec lights & H4 bulbs. HMMMM, what's that smell... If your lucky the switch will melt ON

I can't find the thread with the play by play but Jim S modified a later Stanley bucket for a 5.75" bulb....tweaking the process maybe would work on the earlier bucket?
