I know this subject gets hashed to death. But what are the thoughts, opinions on these four companies Expansion Chambers? Patriot Racing Industries, Hellfire, Webike K2TEC and WTF. I know one question will be, how are you going to ride this? Most of the time slightly aggressive, guaranteed to tach it up a couple of times each ride. The roads here in Florida suck! I usually have to head North about a hours ride to find any deviation to the linear doldrums. Although there's seldom a chance of banging up the bottoms, there's always hope. I see in the advertisements that most of these are some forum of copy of the Denco's. On the Hellfire's site they say that they have a bit more ground clearance.

I've read through a lot of posts on jetting, jet kit's etc.. A little bummbed to see this but there's still a lot to be done .

I've had issues with Webike's website for the past several days. I really wanted the K2TEC's but they haven't resolved the issues. I ended up going to Hell Fires site and placed the order, saved a little money vs buying them on eBay, about $75 which is eBay's cut. Kawasaki h1 Mach III H1 exhaust 1973-1976 Hellfire Expansion Chambers Clear Coat. Fitting that his gallery matches my project.

Great project, Keep up the good work, it will be well worth the effort, I've been working on mine for 4 years and about to complete the project, lots of knowledge on this site, couldn't have done it without them.

Since I first got involved with triples, right out of Vietnam in 1971, I have done extensive testing, development and design to these, and many other bikes.

That said, the hardest part in the beginning, was doing a correct primary section, port to first cone. Almost every manufacturer of aftermarket pipes, and factories, have made street bike exhausts with straight mandrel bent tubes.

To do it right, there is the hard part, those primary sections need to be tapered, a cone in themselves, which is extremely hard. We have all seen the tapered sections made from a lot of tapered small cones, welded to make a curved tapered section, two section stamping pieces welded together, and other nightmares for makers, primary sections. This is the best way to do it, but always has been tough to do, expensive, "not really needed for a street bike", the works in "I ain't gonna do that".

My first triple was a 1971 H1-A, and before I got heavy into modding it, and going to work for Team Kawasaki Road Race, U.S. A., my 1971 had "pipes" that actually had the factory connectors at the chamber inlets, and stock straight primary pipes, the chambers slid on, like the stock mufflers. Hi-R pipes just would not fit the stock frames.

So, find a nice set of tapered primary pipe chambers, great, only one thing left to figure out, ??? Is that taper the right configuration tuning wise, for that engine package ???

Nobody said all this was not a load of fun, look at all the intensive education your brain gets learning all of it. Keep telling yourself, it is all over the top fun, not frustration.

Thanks so much for your advise. So true a "matched package". I spoke with Alex owner of Sonic Expansion Chambers aka "Hell-Fire Expansion Chambers". Nice guy, love to see a young man succeed and follow their dreams. The pipes he is selling is basically a Denco, cone diameter and lengths. He informed me that the even his baffle has the identical swirl design. As far as my project goes for now Pipes, Pods and proper jet kit from Ivan. I'm sure I'll be happy with the results.

I can't thank you guys enough for keeping this site going. I've read enough of the personal threads to form my own opinion. I'll be camping out in the Restoration & How-To room.

"Pods"....NOPE, NO, NADA, NYET. What does happen is the velocity into the carb is so discobobulated, the jet pull is altered to not be tunable. Now, EXTEND THOSE PODS OUT ABOUT 2-1/2 TO 3 INCHES, good chance you can get it to run fairly well. Better yet, still air box with stock duct, K&N round filter inside the box. That way, velociy is still good, signal to the jets, still good, and NO disturbance of air around the ?Pods", NO HOT AIR into the box, nor flowing around the pods.

But, then, that's just the way mine ran the best around. .

Thanks for the advice. I had seen that when I read through the carb posts. I still have to set up some tables in the garage and unpack everything so I can start the assembly process. I don't remember seeing the airbox assembly, only Uni or Emgo foam filters without the hard cover. I totally understand this effect. "That way, velocity is still good, signal to the jets, still good, and NO disturbance of air around the ?Pods", NO HOT AIR into the box, nor flowing around the pods." I worked with Vince Hill with his Bear Velocity Stacks adapting CVK40's to a ZRX. So a airbox will be a future project. That is if there isn't one already stashed away.

I'm looking into purchasing the air box. Is the #12 11016-006 SILENCER necessary? And is there any differences between years? I hate to order used nonreturnable parts and find out that there's a major difference between what will fit. Also I need handle bars, any recommendations on those? Webike has these SHIFT UP : KAWASAKI OEM Replica Handlebar but they say for early models 500SS MACHIII (H1) 69-72 H1B, but also say universal fit.
On a side note. Getting my Mom's old lap top running so I can access the USB Flash Drive that the manual is on. Courtesy of JBoz. He also gave me the email conversations that took place during the purchase process. I just got goose bumps. I have Steve Hartwell's old bike Rootie!! Now this really makes it special one. WOW!! Here's a little bit from the emails. "Dale is a very good friend, the fellow who created the data bases. He IS Mraxl and he has compiled tons of information and made it all accessible to everyone for free." I am so applicative Dale. I know you spent a lot of your time setting up the resource section. I've looked through it a couple of times, today ventured a little further into the parts area. WOW !! What a treasure trove of information. That is so beneficial!! I didn't take this bike apart and never worked on one these. You certainly have made my life easier. Thank you!

Opening up all the tubs and putting a shopping list together. I'm sure as I go, I'm going to find I don't have this or that. It's exciting to see it all out. I found a new clutch fiber set, darn if I didn't waste money buying a set.
