Sharp job Shane.

I clear coated the polished aluminmum on my Daytona and RZ with SprayMax 2K. It ahered well and has kept me from repolishing. I liked the 2K product so well I cleared the bare chambers on the Daytona before DG this year I used 1500 degree PJ1 paint on the chambers pipe from the cylinder back just past the first cone and then applied the 2K on back. The 2K has held up with even with 100 deg 140 mile ride last week.

lots of sanding!
1-sand with 320 grit until all pits are gone
2-sand with 800 vertically.
3-sand with 1000 horizonally until you see no more vertical lines from the 800.
4-sand with 2000 vertically again until the horizonal marks ( from the 1000) are gone.
5-buff with red jewelers rouge on sisal wheel.
6-two glasses of red wine.
7- next day, find the spots that you aren't happy with and sand with 2000.
8-sisal again
9-when it looks good, red rouge on flannel wheel.
10- pour glass of red wine and light the grill

John,
I've never used clearcoat, but have considered it.
I am thinking about it when I get to the front forks.
This bike was all original and it's been a difficult decision on which way to go.
I could have made money by selling like it was (when I got it).
So... I'm doing it like I did the H1. (Better than factory, but not RB correct).
I painted the cases with PJ1, and am worried that it won't stay.
what is your experience with PJ1?
is it holding up?

You're insane, Shane. (except for the wine and grill part)

Have you tried less sanding with the very fine paper, and substituting a coarse polish with something like tripoli?
