Is there any way of cleaning and treating too stop the rust getting worse? or at least slowing it right down.

New tanks should be coated, all metal tanks should be coated.....

I just did my tank before hearing of this 'evaporust', would have liked to try it. I used shipping shrink wrap & mummified my tank. Poured in a pint of acetone with nuts & dry wall screws, rinsed with more acetone, and let dry. Used Caswell and really like this stuff. I have used Kreem and do NOT like it. Caswell is a really thick honey like substance that coats the walls, top of tank really well. Dries to a clear shiney coating. Just be careful, some leaked out of the gas cap hole on me. The H1 opening is hard to seal with a rubberband as recommended and as I have done on other tanks. You need to be quick to get it off, but it coats the entire gas tank. I used the entire amount & poured out the excess thru the petcock hole & gas cap hole.
