Anyone ever have any luck rechroming 72 h2 gas caps. I have two, one is about perfect, other has very minor pitting in the satin area. Just wondering if the pitted cap can be rechromed and keep the original two tone finish.

I had my 72 cap rechromed and it looks great. No more brush look. Just a real nice smooth cap.

Mine is "all shiny" after chroming, maybe not ideal, but ya just gotta move on! Hey, at least I've got one!

This subject has raised it's head before and I have NEVER been successful! . . . . However, Saint Barry has :eh: - A guy in the U.K.comissioned a repop but he is waiting for the first batch -I had some done years ago when there wasn't a market for them

You can tape off all but the area that is supposed to be textured and LIGHTLY bead blast. It won't look exactly as original, but closer than a all smooth chrome cap.

I've had several rechromed with about a 30% success rate.
