On Jerry Branch’s dyno, the stock RZ350 made 42.7 hp at 9,000 rpm; redline is 9,500. Below 6,000 rpm, the engine “doesn’t make enough power to pull the skin off a bowl of rice pudding,” read the test, but power came on strong after 6K.

I thought the power valve was supposed to get rid of this? The modded one i rode seemed peppy.......

they are just flat out fantastic, especially for 1984 technology. I love mine. Some upgrades make them really nice to live with, you could easily cross country one with no problems. Now.

its like cheating.

Mine, which is stock internally, chambers, flatslides, and a digital ignition and v force reeds stayed ahead but even with an 83 CB1100 up to about 128mph for a long very illegal highway run a year ago from a 60 mph roll on. im happy with that for a 350cc turd.

I road the one here, which is a Spec II stage II with pipes, and I rode one at the Gap one year. They are a nice little bike. Did you ever get yours dynoed Mark?

I love how sweet these engines run and are free to spin up. I was very disappointed in the handling. The stock fork springs were much too soft and the air forks were too harsh. RaceTech springs solved the handling issue. Mine pulls well in the lower rpm's unlike what the Cycle World writer said but it is much more fun above 5500 rpm's. Mine spins up to 11k in the lower gears like a die grinder. I'm not sure about 5th and 6th gear as I am a girlie biker you know:-)

Nope, dont plan on it until i really build it. however, the biggest thing about them being really good is tuning them correctly, which, lets be honest, most aren't. at least in my experience. a lot of people over carb them too, and thats abig mistake. mines a kitten under 5k, easy to ride but not weak at all.

this is very true. the stock springs SUCK. I also fitted some new springs, a metmachex arm and have a factory fork brace added. I procured a fox twin clicker shock going on in the winter to stiffen things up a bit but even dead stock it was a nice riding bike, but (period typical) too cushy.

Every time I ride mine I am in AWE. A 350 that pulls like that, wow.
