It rained yesterday and today so I took advantage of the situation and swapped the RH coil out on the RD that died an untimely death in Norco, LA. Reinstalled the 39 year old factory Yamaha coil we pulled off when we built the bike. Fired on the 1st kick after setting since the 18th of May and ran flawlessly. Wheelies were pulled, 9500 RPM shifts were made and speeds of 100 MPH indicated were reached.

Did the coil first go intermittent or did it die an immediate death ? |

Intermittent. 1st dropped cylinder at idle after running a while. Then RH cylinder would only fire above 5000 after running a few minutes.Turning on headlight would also cause RH cylinder to drop. |
